Why Being Too Clean is a Bad Thing

By Louise Dutton, Bella Soap Company founder and soapmaker

Sebum is your skin's natural oil, keeping your skin soft and making it a bit waterproof. Ever get wrinkly fingers in the tub? Although your fingers may look like shriveled raisins, they aren't really shriveled—they're actually waterlogged because the sebum has been washed away.

Bella Soap Company formulates Bella Dry Skin Formula using ingredients that clean without stripping off the skin's natural oils. Squeaky clean isn't necessarily always a good thing.

Named a "Reader Favorite" in the September issue of Better Nutrition magazine, Bella Dry Skin Formula also earned the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association. The soap is very safe for people with skin issues due to the mild, gluten-free, non-comedogenic ingredients, and lack of parabens, preservatives, and synthetic fragrances. The soap is dermatologist and pediatrician recommended for people with eczema, dry and sensitive skin, and is safe for people on chemotherapy. This soap hydrates the skin, leaving it feeling moist, not oily, due to the natural humectants (olive oil, castor oil, and shea butter) used in the formula.

In addition, Bella Dry Skin Formula was selected by the Handcrafters Soapmakers Guild, a trade association, to represent the industry before Congress regarding the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010.
